Is it time to replace your flooring, but you don't want to rip out the old floors?

Do you want the look of hardwood or stone but not the price? At Dannburg Flooring, we offer laminate flooring for Kelowna homeowners looking for versatility and installation ease.

What is Laminate Flooring?

Invented in the late 1970s, laminate flooring has come a long way in design and usability. This type of flooring consists of planks of multi-layer synthetic material. A decorative printed design covers the synthetic boards, creating the look of wood or stone. A lamination process fuses the layers of synthetic material together, hence the name "laminate flooring."

Laminate flooring implements planks that use a tongue-and-groove design to lock into each other. This technique eliminates the unattractive gap between boards, decreasing the appearance of floor seams.

The tongue-and-groove locking mechanisms additionally allow for contraction and expansion of the floor. They also keep the planks tight together. Laminate flooring is sometimes called “floating floor.” Instead of gluing the planks to the subfloor, the installer fits them together on top of the existing floor. For example, you can install laminate flooring over wood, concrete, or even vinyl flooring.
